Nancy Dyer and Dream Big Dreams Win Amateur Yearling Mares, Constance Jarve and Extra Cute Win 2-Year-Old

Despite the frigid temperatures that have descended on Columbus, Ohio this morning, things in the halter pen are just beginning to heat up. Josh Weakly led HR Lady Secret to a win in Amateur Weanling Fillies. Nancy Dyer led Dream Big Dreams to a win in Amateur Yearling Mares, and Constance Jarve led Extra Cute to a win in 2-Year-Old Mares.

We took a moment to chat with Nancy Dyer before she went back in the pen to show Evoke in Amateur 3-Year-Old Mares.

“Ted showed and won with [Dreams Big Dreams] the other day [in Open Yearling Fillies]” Dyer says. “I have won the Congress before, but not since the 80s, so it’s been awhile.”

Dyer and “Dreams” won the Congress Championship title in the Amateur Open and Amateur Limited divisions of the class today. She says this particular mare’s pretty qualities and substantial muscling are what helps to put her over the top.

“She is really pretty and has a gorgeous head and neck,” Dyer says. “Her neck is a mile long. It’s really clean, and that right there will set a show horse apart from the rest of them. But, with the head and neck, she still has enough muscle to make a pretty picture. She is just very well-rounded and elegant looking.”

With her eye appeal and balanced conformation, Dreams is what one might refer to in the halter pen as the complete package. “The complete package” is also how Dyer refers to her better half and horse trainer of more than 20 years, Ted Turner.
