The Equine Chronicle would like to pay tribute to two legendary stallions who were lost this past year, way too early in their illustrious careers. It is beyond heartbreaking for anyone to lose a horse, but these two stallions not only touched the lives of many people, but their contributions to the Halter world will be felt for generations to come.
The loss of these exceptional horses who were carefully chosen as babies, nurtured through their careers, and were living up to their potential as breeding stallions is even more difficult for the families that loved them deeply, but the outpouring of kindness and compassion from the greater equine community has helped beyond measure.
My Intention
On August 9, 2024, the magnificent stallion My Intention passed away at the age of 18. While the loss has been profound for owners Jim and Georgia Snow of Snow Quarter Horses in Quinlan, Texas, the Quarter Horse world has responded with words of sympathy and kindness, recognizing the far-reaching impact this once-in-a-lifetime horse has had in the Halter world and, indeed, on the greater equine industry.
In 2023, My Intention passed the $4 million dollar mark in progeny earnings. His influence as a leading sire cannot be understated. He was the Arnold Schwarzenegger of the Halter Industry, with a unique combination of conformation perfection, physical beauty, and a kind spirit. As a leading sire, he stamped his offspring with all of those characteristics, continually producing exceptional babies that would reflect their sire’s best qualities.
The handsome stallion known affectionately as Big Red was sired by Playgirls Conclusion and out of RPL My Te Touching. My Intention offspring have gone on to earn multiple World and Reserve World Champion titles in AQHA, APHA and ApHC; and he is a leading stallion in these organizations. His foals were eligible for the Breeders Halter Futurity, Big Money Futurity, WCHA and APHA Platinum and Gold.
