Valentino, Multiple World Champion sire, was humanely laid to rest on Tuesday, March 10th after a long illness. Our sincerest condolences go out to owner, June Rhea, and Lonn and Kathy Smallwood on the loss of their magnificent stallion.
Valentino was foaled on Valentine’s Day in 2013 and was bred and shown by Lonn and Kathy. He was sired by The Top Secret and out of the great producer, Innocent Touch (Touchdown Kid x Cool Innocence.)
Valentino began his career as a weanling, being named Co-Champion at the WCHA and Reserve Champion at the Big Money Futurities. He ended the year with two bronze trophies at the AQHA World Show. His many accomplishments also included winning the Jerry Wells Memorial Futurity in the Open and Amateur, two AQHA Reserve World Championships, and a third AQHA bronze championship. He earned 23 AQHA Halter points, 20 Grands and Reserves, and $30,261 in LTE.
This young stallion sired a total of 30 foals, earning over $65,000 and achieving 55 AQHA Halter points, 7 World and 3 Reserve World Championships in AQHA, APHA, and ApHC with more foals arriving in 2021.
Special thanks to Sammy Pittman, DVM and his wife Kellee of Innovative Equine Podiatry & Veterinary Services, along with Chelsea Makloski, DVM of Pinnacle Equine Veterinary Services for their loving care. We will all greatly miss this once-in-a-lifetime stallion.
Run free Valentino!
