It’s been a busy morning here at the APHA World Championship Show, and we’re just getting started. First, Sabrina Seehafer led Sterling Expression to win Amateur Walk Trot Showmanship. The Reserve Champion was Victoria Burger with Absoloot Glitz N Glam.

In Junior Hunter Under Saddle Laura Spell rode LX Just Call Me Fancy to the win. The Reserve World Champion was Alyse Roberts with All On The Line. Placing third was Shannon Gillespie with Huntified. Fourth place was Karen Qualls with I’m Real Sensational. Fifth place was Julie Schmidt with All In Blue.

Laura was very pleased with “Junior’s” performance in the class today, especially considering the sudden change in temperature here in Fort Worth. “He was really good today, and I barely warmed him up. He was kind of on the honor code, and then it got cold this morning… We didn’t even longe him.”

IMG_6938 copyThe chilly weather certainly didn’t seem to affect Junior’s disposition, and he performed just as well as he did a few days ago for owner Andrea Kegley when the pair was named the World Champions in Novice Amateur Hunter Under Saddle. Junior is now five years old, so he will have to move up into the senior division next year. The 16.3 hand, sorrel gelding is by The Ultimate Fancy and out of a Thoroughbred mare.

“We bought him as a three-year-old, and my sister showed him,” she says. “We just sold him to Andrea this year, and she’s been doing novice amateur classes with him. The girl who trained him rode him here as a two-year-old, and we didn’t have anyone to buy him at the time. When we saw a sale video on the Internet, my sister jumped on it right away.”
