Monte and Anna Horn to Take the Reins at Kull Ranch

Terry and Stacey Kull of Kull Ranch are thrilled to announce that Monte and Anna Horn will be making the move from Terry, Mississippi to Pilot Point, Texas to begin working out of their facility. They will be taking the reins from Dave and Brenda Kellerman, who were hired as Operation Managers in 2013 and will now be entering semi-retirement.

When it came time to suggest a couple to fill the position, Brenda and Dave immediately thought of their good friends. “We’ve been here for about 7 1/2 years and have so enjoyed working for Terry and Stacey. We’d never leave, but we’re ready to retire,” Brenda says. “We will continue to have our rubber tie business and will keep going to the horse shows to promote that. Monte and Anna are just good people to start with, and I think they’re the perfect fit with Terry and Stacey. They have a lot of motivation and enthusiasm.”

“Dave and Brenda have been instrumental in helping us to negotiate this job,” Anna says. “I think it’s a dream made in heaven. We’re currently in Terry, Mississippi, and have been there for 15 years, but we’re looking forward to working out of the more centrally-located Kull Ranch in the heart of horse country.”

“Our current clientele will be moving with us, and we will continue to take outside horses- Paints, Palominos, Quarter Horses, Appaloosas, and futurity prospects. The business will remain focused on high quality Halter horses. It will be business as usual, just in a new location.”

Monte will take over the title of Ranch Manager and Anna will assist with day to day operations, marketing, and working with the breeding operation, which centers around the stallion, KR Hes Xceptional. Stacey is very excited about the foal crop that “Bruno” has produced thus far. The 2014 AQHA stallion was given his moniker because he was born on Super Bowl Sunday when Bruno Mars was performing during the halftime show. He’s by The Exceptional One and out of Sheza Phenomenal Kid.

“We’ve got a really good foal crop this year, and we would love to start going to more horse shows this summer,” Stacey says. “We have approximately 40 horses on the ranch, and they’re mostly younger horses under the age of two. We have mostly Quarter Horses and double-registered AQHA/APHA. We would also like to get into showing Paint Horses a little more as well.”

One aspect Monte and Anna are very excited about is the central location of the ranch. “The drive from Mississippi to Texas and Oklahoma for major horse shows takes 7-9 hours, and this will not only be closer for our clients but for others who want to stop by the ranch to see horses. It’s a big win for everyone involved,” Anna says. “Our goal is to move in on the first of May to make it easier on the horses. That’s 100% our primary goal. We want the horses to have time to settle in and finish prepping them for the major summer shows.”

“Terry and Stacey have a long history of success in several arenas, and we’re looking to bring a new brightness to the program that’s already in existence. We want to do a good job for them and are looking at this as a long-term situation. It’s a new home for us to grow into. This change is happening at the right time, and there are so many big, summer horse shows that we’re looking forward to attending.”

“We’re very excited about their energy,” Stacey says. “I think we mesh well together. Brenda and Dave have been fantastic for us, and they’re like family. It will be hard to see them go, but we’re really excited for Monte and Anna to join the team. It’s a lot of excitement all around.”
