After more than 20 years of support for Dressage from Lynn Palm and other owners, trainers and exhibitors of American Quarter Horses, Dressage and Western Dressage were featured as Stakes Classes at the 2020 Farnam AQHA World Show November 20-21 in Oklahoma City, OK.
To begin the Dressage events, AQHA Professional Horseman, Lynn Palm presented Ride the Pattern, a short demonstration clinic. A fundraiser for the Professional Horseman’s Crisis Fund and an opportunity for competitors to review competition patterns, the clinic was well attended in person as well as virtually. Palm simply explained the purpose of Dressage, the scoring and the components of a Training Level and Basic Level Test with rider Marie-Frances Davis and AQHA mare WTR Herestoyourhonor. The video is available to view at https://cutt.ly/phjEX8d.
Since Palm was the first competitor to earn the first AQHA point in Dressage in 2010 and followed suit with Western Dressage in 2020, it was fitting that she took top honors in both Stakes Classes. Aboard Adelaide Pickett’s WTR Herestoyourhonor, Palm was Champion in Dressage and Reserve Champion in Western Dressage. Additionally, Palm piloted Noel Anderson’s AQHA Champion mare, Madison Circle to a Top Five and Top Ten finish in each class.
Looking forward to Dressage and Western Dressage classes becoming more accessible to AQHA shows throughout the country in 2021, Lynn Palm and Palm Equestrian Academy co-founder, instructor, trainer and coach, Cyril Pittion-Rossillon, will continue to foster relationships between riders and their horses. Using the training progression of the dressage levels is the basis of their teachings. With the principles of dressage, riders can follow any discipline or event, competitive or otherwise with great success.
