PHJ press release by: Jessica Hein
The qualifying period for the 2014 APHA World Championship Show wraps up July 31, but a pair of Oklahoma shows give exhibitors a final opportunity to make sure their horses are eligible for the premier Paint Horse show in November. The Green Country Paint Horse Club and World Wide Paint Horse Congress are the last two shows on the 2014 qualification docket, and groundbreaking events promise they’ll be shows to remember.
Taking place concurrently at Expo Square in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the shows count as two separate events for 2014 World Show qualification. The four-judge Green Country Paint Horse Club Show takes place July 30–31 in the Mustang Arena. The eight-judge World Wide Paint Horse Congress—produced by the Kansas and Missouri Paint Horse clubs—takes place in the Ford Truck Arena July 30–August 3.
The shows will count for up to two shows each if all judges are shown to—exhibitors must start showing in July if they want the shows to count for 2014 World Show qualification requirements. If only shown in August, the events will count for 2015 qualification.

World Wide Paint Horse Congress Showbill
The World Wide Paint Horse Congress has several new events scheduled for this year’s show.
Merial Get of Sire and Produce of Dam classes
In these classes, a horse’s offspring are shown on behalf of their sire or dam—three foals represent each stallion in Get of Sire, and two foals represent each mare in Produce of Dam. While the sire or dam may be a Regular Registry or Solid Paint-Bred horse, the foals must be Regular Registry horses age 4 or younger. These classes take place August 2, and there is no entry fee if the horses are entered in at least one other class (otherwise, regular per-horse entry fees apply).
Lynn Simons Memorial Halter Futurity
This inaugural event takes place August 2, sanctioned by the WCHA. Regular Registry and Solid Paint-Bred yearlings will compete in Non-Pro Yearling Mares, Non-Pro Yearling Stallions and Non-Pro Yearling Geldings—cash payouts and lots of prizes are up for grabs, including $500 bonuses for the highest placing Youth in the Non-Pro Yearling Mares and Non-Pro Yearling Geldings classes.
The overall Champions of Champions Open Yearling class will include first- and second-place overall winners from the Congress’ Open yearling sex classes (Regular Registry and Solid Paint-Bred). The PHJ is a proud sponsor of the Lynn Simons Memorial Halter Futurity.
Beth Buechler Limited Series
Six limited rider/limited horse classes will take place at the Congress in honor of the late Beth Buechler. The classes are PAC-approved, and open to Open, Amateur and Youth exhibitors riding Regular Registry or Solid Paint-Bred horses. Events include trail, hunter under saddle and Western pleasure. Winners, reserve champions and Top 10 exhibitors in each event take home awesome prizes.
Participants in the limited series must meet eligibility requirements—in the past three years, neither the exhibitor nor the horse can have won an APHA or AQHA world or reserve world championship (including champion/reserve in the Gold/Silver/Bronze Breeders’ Futurity, challenge, stakes or sweepstakes classes); won an AQHA Congress championship or reserve championship in any division, including futurities, maturities, stakes and sweepstakes; ApHC world or reserve world championship in any division, including futurities, maturities, stakes and sweepstakes; and NSBA Non-Pro limited lifetime earnings exceeding $15,000.
