Josh Weakly and Gamechanger Win Amateur 2-Year-Old Geldings, Unanimous in All Three Amateur Classes

Last week, Luke Castle led Gamechanger, a stunning Palomino Quarter Horse, to a win in Open 2-Year-Old Geldings for owner Josh Weakly and trainer Andy Staton. This morning, Weakly took the lead himself in an impressive Amateur 2-Year-Old Gelding class of 15 entries to win the Congress Championship title.

The Reserve Congress Champion was Arnold Holliday with Totally Unexpected. Rounding out the top three was Lynn Flowers with Who’s That Boy. Flowers also won the Limited division of the class and Kyle Railey with Sacreds Desperaddi came in Reserve.

Once again, Weakly has had an unimaginably successful Congress winning all three amateur classes he entered by being the unanimous choice of the judges. We spoke with Weakly’s better half, Kaleena, to get the inside scoop.

“He went unanimous in all three of his Amateur classes. I’m not going to be able to live with him,” Kaleena jokes. “He’s just going to be unbearable!”

“We brought three horses, and they all won their Open classes and Amateur classes. The aged mare, Elusive Premonition, went Grand in the Open and Amateur. The two-year-old gelding, Gamechanger, went Reserve in the Grand and Reserve. Then, there were the two halter futurity classes. HR Lady Secret won in both the Open and Amateur Weanling Fillies.”

Weakly will return this afternoon to see if he can improve Gamechanger’s Reserve Grand Champion Open title to an Amateur Grand. However, there is certain to be some stout competition coming back from the Amateur 3-Year-Old Geldings and Aged Geldings.
