The Iowa Paint Horse Club hosted their Memorial Day Classic in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, May 25-27. The judges for the first portion of the show on Saturday included Dale Sullens, Doug LaSota, Steve Lackey, and Timothy Jedra. The judges for Sunday and Monday included Terry Thompson, Kimberly Richwine Gately, Mark McCarthy, and Rod Safty.
APHA exhibitors came from all corners of the country, as well as Canada, for the event, which saw an increase of 200 more entries for the Sunday/Monday portion of the show.
Congratulations to the horse and rider combos that found themselves at the top of the judges’ cards! Jackie Hodge and Hes Fancy In White snagged a first place spot in Amateur Walk Trot Showmanship. Samantha Rose and Even More Sensational received a first in 18 and Under Showmanship, as did Kelsey Dunlap with Its All About Scarlet in Novice Amateur Showmanship and Cory Mathia with Can I Get Your Number in Amateur Showmanship.
First place recipients in Hunter Under Saddle included Tina Langness with Hes Double The Fun in Green Hunter Under Saddle, Myla Munro with Fancy Mea Cowgirl in Novice Amateur Hunter Under Saddle, and Jenna Rosenburg with All Things Forgiven in 18 and Under Hunter Under Saddle. Allie Littlefield and Still Scenic, Jen Bender and The Sorority Girl, and Mikayla Hatcher and Livin Big received firsts in Amateur Hunter Under Saddle, Hunter Under Saddle, and Novice Amateur Hunter Under Saddle, respectively.
Lola Isbell and Ultraviolet, Holly Phalen and VS Code Victoria, and Delaney Good and Kewl Zippin Strider received firsts in Leadline, Green Western Pleasure, and Youth Walk Trot Horsemanship. Sara Simons and Platinum Cowgirl, Nanci Ryan and Toobusy Been Fabulous, and Kaylynn Heitman and Hunting Blue Skies received firsts in Junior Western Pleasure, Amateur Walk Trot Horsemanship, and Novice Youth Western Pleasure.
