Western States Championship show coordinator Doug Huls is excited with the large number of qualifiers and interest in the inaugural event. Exhibitors from across the western states have qualified, and interest in attending the event is widespread in many western states. Class schedules will be available online soon at WesternStatesChampionship.org. The show dates are July 6 – 10, 2016 at South Point Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. No matter the outside temperature, or weather, all stalls and show arenas are located in the premier climate controlled facility in the southwest.
For championship classes with more than 10 qualified exhibitors, the first AQHA class of the regular show will serve as the qualifying round. Entry fees for this class are included with your pre-entry for the championship class.
Championship award presentations will take place following the completion of each championship class. Exhibitors will compete for gold, silver and bronze Championship trophies and money in open, amateur (including select) and youth Western and English rail classes, Trail, Western Riding, Reining, Working Cow Horse, Roping, Speed events and Halter classes. For a complete list of classes, go to WesternStatesChampionship.org.
The EMO Western States Championship show offers exhibitors a chance to experience a Championship style show. Qualification is by class, which offers exhibitors a chance to try different classes. The show is open to exhibitors from states west of the Mississippi, so the competition will be deep.
Since this is the first year for the show, EMO Western States Championship planning committee agreed to allow Level 1/Novice exhibitors to use novice classes as qualifiers for youth and amateur classes this year only. Rules and details can be found at WesternStatesChampionship.org.
Title sponsor, EMO Insurance and representative, Chris Hocutt said, “EMO is happy to be the title sponsor for the Inaugural Western States Championship at South Point Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. This show draws new exhibitors to the show arena and brings together AQHA affiliate states west of the Mississippi in their own championship style event. The EMO Western States Championship is a great opportunity for exhibitors to step up from the Novice (Level 1) Championship Shows and compete at a championship style show.”
In addition to the Championship Classes, four sets of AQHA open, amateur (including select) and youth classes will be offered in conjunction with the EMO Western States Championship. You do not need to qualify to show in the AQHA classes. For information about the AQHA shows being held in conjunction with the EMO Western States Championship, see WesternStatesChampionship.org.
