It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Neece on Saturday, July 15.
Linda’s family requested privacy during this time of mourning and, in honoring their wishes, we have delayed this announcement.
Linda was devoted to her family first and foremost, but after that it was all about her horses. And how she loved her horses!!! Best known for her western pleasure horse, For One Night Only , Linda never left the show grounds until she had personally seen to his care. Under the tutelage of, first, Rusty and Katie Green, and then Aaron Moses, “Sid” won both the Junior and Senior Western Pleasure at the AQHA World Show. He won the Congress eight times. Linda rode him to the L2 Amateur Western Pleasure World Championship and AQHA Reserve World Champion Select Western Pleasure. Win, lose or draw, Linda came out of the ring with a big smile and a big congratulations to the other competitors in her class.
Her friendship was a special gift, given to few, and if you were lucky enough to be that recipient you would have thought that you had won the lottery. She always saw the good in people. She always lent a helping hand. She always set the bar high on integrity.
For over a year, Linda fought lung cancer and , during that time, she never gave in and never gave up. She will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives she touched. Linda is survived by her sons, Phillip Neece and Robert Johnson Neece, her grandson Maddox, and her stepson Joel.
A private graveside service will be held on Monday, July 24.
To those wishing to honor her memory, donations could be made to either the NSBA Crisis Fund or to the NSBA Susan Scott Memorial Fund.
Thank you to Ruth Ellen for sending us these beautiful words about Linda, and thank you to Katie Green for sharing the photos below:
