The National Snaffle Bit Association is saddened to report that Joe Grissom, of Frankfort, Indiana, died earlier this week.
Joe served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Pinto Horse Association of America from 1988 until his retirement in 2004 and remained a consultant to PtHA. He founded and was president of the Color Breed Council, and many NSBA members may remember his involvement with the judges’ education and testing events that have become the International Equine Judges Seminar. Joe was a member of the executive committee of the Indiana Saddle Horse Association and past president of the Indiana Pinto Horse Association. He was a life member and Hall Of Fame inductee into the Pinto Horse of America.
Joe is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara, and children Jane (Ron) Gholson, Michael (Missy) Grissom, and Susan (Keith) Newhart.
Visitors may call on Friday, March 22 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with funeral Saturday, March 23, at 10:00 a.m. at Day-Genda Funeral Home, 608 North Main Street, Frankfort, Indiana 46041. Memorial contributions can be made to the Joe Grissom Pinto Youth Scholarship Fund through the Pinto Heritage Foundation.
