In Loving Memory of Huntin Petite Lady

In loving memory of Huntin Petite Lady- “Brown” (2005-2021)

Stephanie Janis said it best: “It’s ironic that we put our names on our horse’s halters, when truly we belong to them, and our hearts are theirs.”

Yesterday was the day I had hoped would never come. I had to say goodbye to my best friend of almost 10 years. To know Brown, was to love him. I have never known an animal with such a pure, kind, and forgiving soul as his. He was a constant in my life through highs and lows, joys and sorrows… through it all.

Brown was truly the horse that made me dare to dream big. From the moment I laid my leg over him all those years ago, I just knew. I looked over to my parents and said “Dad, hate to tell you this… but you better open up the checkbook. He’s coming home with us.” Ever since that moment, he has impacted my life for the better. He was the definition of a “heart horse.”

His show career may have been cut short due to injury, but it never dulled his sparkle. All these years later, and he was still the most handsome horse I’ve ever seen, with the kindest brown eyes. He may not have had the chance to win a World Show globe, but he genuinely possessed the heart of a champion.

I consider myself immeasurably blessed to have had the opportunity to know you and love you Brown. God placed you in my life and the lives of so many others for a reason. We always knew you were an angel; but, my love, now you have your wings. Hopefully time moves differently up in Heaven, and it will seem like no time has passed at all before I meet you again.
