In Loving Memory of Chester Prince

From the Prince family:

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing on May 22, 2024, of Chester Prince after a brief illness. Please respect the families’ wishes to be given time to grieve. If you would like to make a donation to your favorite local charity in Chester’s name, we know he would be honored. The date of The Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Thank you to everyone for your kind words and support during this difficult time.

Throughout his 86 years, Chester Prince was passionate about two things in life; construction and horses.

Chester started and owned Prince Contracting from 1983 to 2007, growing it into civil construction leader in Florida. Founded in 1983, Prince Contracting grew from a five employee privately held firm that focused on heavy earthmoving projects including Site Development, Golf Courses and Interstate Highways, into an organization focused on large-scale, complex bid-build and design-build public transportation projects.

Chester had a 50-acre horse farm in Florida called Prince Farm for this breeding, halter and performance program.

Chester has had great success over the years with his breeding, halter, and performance horse programs. Trainers such as Clay Farrell, Dewey Smith, Lee Paul Shinn, and Tyler Haney all worked for Prince Farm and helped to bring all their programs to the top of the breeding and show industries. Sandra Vaughn was an important mentor throughout the years.

Another passion of Chester was breeding and racing Thoroughbreds. His greatest success was a homebred mare called Salty winning the Grade One Stakes La Troienne Stakes. (The La Traoienne is run the same weekend as the KY Derby at Churchill Downs.)

Thank you to the family of Chester Prince for sharing these precious words with the community through us, and please accept our deepest condolences to all his family and friends.
