Call Me Sister, by Paint Me Zippo and out of HF Skips Plaudette, was laid to rest on May 31, 2023.
The 2001 APHA Sorrel Tobiano Mare with the familiar “Y” brand, for Yarnelle Farms, was Paul and Marylyn Caliendo’s first Paint Horse, purchased through Scott Suggs and Shannon McCulloch. After her purchase, the Simons family welcomed the Caliendos to the breed at the Copper Country POR in Tucson, and introduced them to other new people in the APHA industry, Marylyn explained in a 2014 cover story for The Equine Chronicle.
“Our hearts are broken. We lost Call Me Sister, a.k.a “Whoopie.” We owned her for 22 years,” Marylyn posted on June 1, 2023. “Champion in the show pen, made WC babies. Loved being a mom, even though she was a trickster always wanting to foal out in pasture. A Champion in life. We say we “owned” her, but she actually owned us. Run free of pain baby girl.”
A review of Whoopie’s show records reveals a true Western Pleasure horse at heart who earned her ROMs and Superiors in Open, Amateur and Novice Amateur Western Pleasure, as well as a Reserve World Championship in Novice Amateur Western Pleasure for the Caliendo’s son, Cody, in 2006.
