Ray Trask passed away on March 29, 2024 in Columbus, Ohio.
Ray’s family were stunned by his sudden passing but were lucky to have had wonderful conversations and say “I love you’s” shortly before the unexpected news. They take pride in remembering how important they were to him. He took his roles of husband, father, and grandfather very seriously and put care into playing those roles to the best of his ability. He was brilliant and creative in so many ways.
Ray loved sailing and the outdoors – going hiking, enjoying parks, and stargazing were activities he was always trying to get his family to join him in. His mind was made for chess and cards and he loved nothing more than playing games late into the night with his family. He greatly enjoyed visiting his children and having sleepovers with his grandchildren, complete with his Grandpa-famous “upside down hugs.” In his semi-retirement he enjoyed diving into new hobbies, including pickleball, bronzeworking, and of course more sailing. He was known to open his phone and just to “see what’s going on” to find random festivals or sporting events in the area that he and Kathy would hop around to. He was so looking forward to seeing the upcoming total eclipse – and now has the best seat in the house.
Ray is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Kathy; his children Jessica (& Zach), Kim (& Wes), and Scott (& Jacob); his grandchildren Elena & Josephine; and his brothers Mike, George, & Paul. He is preceded in death by his parents Ed & Alice and his brothers David, Carl, & Larry.
Ray would have appreciated donations to the American Heart Association to further research that could help his children and brothers.
Services will be held at Hill Funeral Home (220 South State Street, Westerville, OH 43081). Please join us in person or in spirit on Tuesday, April 2nd from 4-5:30pm for visitation and at 5:30pm for his memorial service.
We encourage you to tell your family you love them often, and to live your life by one of Dad’s favorite prayers:
God, Grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, The Courage to change the things I can, and the Wisdom to know the difference.
