From NSBA:

Marion Troyer earned not one, but two NSBA futurity titles when he showed You Red Me All Wrong in the Three Year Old and Older Novice Horse Hunter Under Saddle Slot Class on Wednesday at The Madness 2024. He showed ‘Jackson’ for owner Alisha Casamona, and won not only the slot class, earning $5,000, but also first in the Limited Rider portion of the class, earning another $3,000.

“I actually bought him last November as a project, and he turned out better than I ever expected,” Marion said. “He’s a seven year old gelding by Allocate Your Assets. He’s a really nice horse. He profiles really well. I’ve shown him off and on, probably about a dozen times.
I took him to Ocala, and it seems like he has gotten better and better. He was reserve champion last week at the AQHA Level 1 Championship East.

“Alisha just bought him at the end of March, and she’ll eventually be showing him in the Non-Pro classes. We’re planning to go to all the major shows.”

Reflecting on his first futurity wins, Marion said: “It feels pretty awesome. It was a good day at work! I’ve won a Pleasure Driving class before, but never a futurity.”

The complete list of money earners for the class were:

  • Champions/Limited Champions: You Red Me All Wrong, Marion Troyer for Alisha Casamona, $5,000/$3,000
  • Reserve Champions: Huntin A Dance, Judy Zeitler for Richard and Betty Jo Carr, $2,500
  • Third/Reserve Limited Rider Bonus: Nothn But A G Thang, Katie Cochran for Michele Latham, $2,500/$3,000
  • Fourth/Third Limited Rider Bonus: Better B A KNG, Whitney Lagace for Stacy Glowaky, $1,500/$1,000
  • Fifth: Doze Yo Momma Know, Jamie English for Kelly Smith, $750
  • Sixth/Maiden Bonus/Fourth Limited Rider Bonus: Stone Cold Asset, Becca Britton for Jamie McWhinney, $500/$1,000/$500

Becca Britton And Stone Win Maiden Novice Horse Division

An unplanned class led to a Maiden bonus for Becca Britton, who showed Stone Cold Asset for owner Jamie McWhinney to a $1,000 payday. The trio also earned $500 in the Open portion of the slot class, along with $500 as the fourth placing Limited Rider.

“We bought him last fall and he was barely broke,” Becca said. “He was so green when we started, that we had no plans to show him here. We just sort of patched it together and decided to enter him.

“He’s by Allocate Your Assets and out of a Hot N Blazing mare. I would describe him as a typical Hunter Under Saddle horse. He’s a big, pretty horse and he has a big stride. He fits this pen (the Sanctuary) really well. He covers a lot of ground.”

When asked about showing Stone for his maiden voyage, Becca was unphased. “It’s a little nerve-wracking, but they don’t really know what’s going on, so it kind of works out,” she said.

Becca and Jamie haven’t determined where he will show next. “We will probably do some Green/Level 1 classes and maybe some Four Year Old Hunter Under Saddle classes,” she said.

The Madness continues through Sunday, May 12. On Thursday, the show will host Western Riding, Horsemanship, Western Pleasure and Ranch Trail and Western Working Rail classes, along with the NSBA $2,000 Added Three Year Old Open Western Pleasure.
