Horse Health Travel Requirements For AQHA World Show

As you spend these next few weeks prepping to compete at the 2019 Lucas Oil AQHA World Championship Show, please keep in mind the travel requirements put forth by the State of Oklahoma.
Before you head to Oklahoma City, be sure to check on horse health requirements before arriving at State Fair Park.
With recent announcements of positive vesicular stomatitis (VS) cases, please be aware and take precautions when traveling with animals that may comingle with other animals at events.
The State of Oklahoma is requiring horses living in counties with positive VS cases to have a health certificate within five days of when you are traveling. Lucas Oil World exhibitors who are from an area that has a positive VS case are required to have a health certificate within five days of when you leave, instead of the 30-day requirement. If you are traveling from a county that does not have any positive VS cases, you will be required to have a health certificate within 30 days of when you leave for the show.

About Vesicular Stomatitis
Vesicular stomatitis is a viral disease of horses, donkeys, mules, cattle and swine. Initial symptoms include excessive salivation and reluctance to eat or drink. Clinical signs include vesicles, erosions and sloughing of the skin on the muzzle, tongue, ears, teats and coronary bands of the animal’s hooves. Lameness or weight loss may follow. Body temperature may rise immediately before or at the same time lesions first appear.
