AQHA Publicity

The American Quarter Horse Political Action Committee, founded in 2005 by the AQHA Public Policy Committee, is one way AQHA makes an impact in Washington, D.C.

AQHPAC, a separate entity from the Association, relies on individual contributions for funding. In turn, it makes contributions to political candidates who support AQHA and horse industry issues. AQHPAC is a way for AQHA members to pool money to make a greater financial impact with candidates.

With 2014 being a mid-term election year, it’s important for you to support AQHPAC. Since its founding, AQHPAC has contributed nearly $300,000 to U.S. House and Senate candidates on both sides of the aisle and in nearly every U.S. state. Not only does AQHPAC help elect and keep horse-friendly congressmen and senators in Washington, it also is a powerful tool that opens doors and allows AQHA to educate those members of Congress on the size and scope of the American Quarter Horse industry. In short, the work of AQHPAC cannot be understated, and your support of it is essential in this mid-term year. Please consider making a donation to AQHPAC today.

Having the ability to successfully fight for the rights of America’s horse-owning public is critical. Our issues are as diverse as the people who own horses. Favorable tax legislation, disaster relief for horse owners, land-use issues, veterinary care and medication topics, interstate race wagering and simulcasting, proactive animal welfare, and fighting malicious agendas of misguided groups like the Humane Society of the United States, are just some of the areas in which AQHPAC makes a difference.

AQHPAC’s efforts, combined with strong grassroots efforts of AQHA members like you and other horse owners at the state level through the Q-Contacts program, help keep horse activities one of the most robust industries in the United States, with a direct economic effect on the U.S. of $39 billion annually.

“We have set a goal to raise $250,000 so that our voice in Washington is strong,” said Wade Ellerbroek, AQHA Public Policy Committee chairman. “It simply stands to reason that making significant campaign contributions to those members of Congress who support the horse industry is very necessary today. It helps keep the lifestyle we love and enjoy a priority with these members. I encourage any AQHA member to give what they can to the PAC.”

To make a contribution to AQHPAC in any amount up to $5,000 per individual, complete the secure online form, or mail your individual contribution to AQHPAC, P.O. Box 200, Amarillo, TX 79168.
