Two main events were on the schedule for this evening at the 2014 All American Quarter Horse Congress. First up was the Junior Hunter Under Saddle with 72 horses. The judges determined the winner to be Heidi Piper with Doodle Jump for owner, Jenna Jacobs. Coming in Reserve was Deanna Searles with She Says Aloha for Jim Searles.

Third place was Nancy Sue Ryan with Boys Move Over for Courtney Suzanne Brockmueller. Fourth place was Ryan Painter with Only Smokin Hot for Alexandra Chavez. Rounding out the top five was Trisha Yamber with This Is Personal for Nancy Havens.

Piper and Jacobs were both ecstatic following the four-year-old gelding’s big win this evening. “I feel like a kid in a candy store,” Piper says. “He is like a toy. I’ve never ridden a horse that loves what he does as much as that horse. Dawn, my daughter, broke him and showed him as a three-year-old. Then, I bought him last fall at the end of his three-year-old year, showed him here, and I won the Green Hunter Under Saddle and the limited Three-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle on him.”

“Then, Jenna bought him. She has done amazing this year. She won the Non Pro Maturity and Youth Hunter Under Saddle at the NSBA World Show.”

Coming up later this evening, Piper and Doodle Jump will try to repeat their winning performance in the Maturity Open Hunter Under Saddle limited finals and the Maturity Open Hunter Under Saddle open finals later this week. Then, Jacobs will be competing later this week in Youth Hunt Seat Equitation and the Non Pro Maturity Hunter Under Saddle open division finals.

Doodle Jump has certainly been a busy boy, competing in five classes yesterday here at the Congress. Although he might not be the biggest horse in the pen, Piper is certain he has the biggest heart.

“He has a big heart, and he is a big mover,” she says. “I don’t think size matters as much as their legs and what they put into their performance. He loves what he does and you can tell.”

“I didn’t get on him until I came up here to ride. We let him rest all day, got on him, and showed him.”

The next class of the evening was Senior Western Pleasure with 91 horses. The judges determined the winner to be Kenny Lakins aboard One Lazy Investment/Kenny Lakins. The Reserve Congress Champion was Gil Galyean with Cool Krymsun Lady. Third place was Rusty Green with Whatscookngoodlookin. Fourth place was Cole Baker with Dark Jasmine. Roudning out the top five was Tony Burris with Only Because I’m Good.

Sixth place was Blake Britton with Just Be Good To Me. Seventh place was Bret Parrish with KM Hot Number. Eighth was Jay Starnes with A Good N Hot Machine. Ninth place was Karen Hornick with A Certain Vino/Karen Hornick. Tenth place was Michael Colvin with Onlyafraid Inthedark.
