The Great Lakes are about to become even greater with the addition of the Great Lakes Paint Horse Championship, which will take place in conjunction with the Zone 8 Show May 14–15 in Cloverdale, Indiana. This is a new addition to the Paint Horse Championship lineup, which made its full debut in 2015.
APHA and AjPHA members can look forward to a full roster of classes at the Zone 8 Show, hosted by the Zone 8 Coordinating Committee. In addition, the show will offer 15 Paint Horse Championship classes with great prizes, including a custom Gist Silversmiths belt buckle for champions and medallions for second to sixth place.
“Zone 8 is super excited to host the Great Lakes Paint Horse Championship for 2016. We are looking forward to drawing from a strong local Paint horse base that might not otherwise attend such a large show,” said Show Manager and Zone 8 President Heather Pelletier of Fort Wayne, Indiana. “We hope while building confidence and making new friends, they will join us for the other classes offered in their division at the Great 8 Zone Show.”
To compete in the Championship classes, exhibitors must reside in Zone 8, which consists of Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio. Exhibitors also cannot have placed in the Top Five in a halter class or Top 10 in a performance class at an APHA World Championship Show in the past five years.
