The Green Country Paint Horse Club’s “Paintin’ the Congress” show is currently in its second and final day of competition in Tulsa Oklahoma. The four-judge, two-day show is running in conjunction with the eight-judge, four-day World Wide Paint Horse Congress. The GCPHC show is currently underway in the Mustang Arena while the Paint Congress is taking place over in the Ford Truck Arena and will continue through August 3rd. The best part for APHA competitors is that these are the last two shows on the schedule before the APHA World Show qualification deadline of July 31st!
Judges for the GCPHC show are Andrea Koehn, Cindy Chilton Moore, Nikki Longacre, and Keith Longacre.
Several special events are underway at the GCPHC show including the Ashley Huntington Memorial Royalty Scholarship, which will award a $1,000 scholarship and prizes to an outstanding competitor in honor of late GCPHC member Ashley Huntington. All of the contestants must participate in an interview (30%), ad sales, (30%), and horsemanship (40%).
Also, the lucky winner of the Champion of Champions Halter class will receive a ruby and gold ring worth over $800!
Fun for the kiddos, and a few adventurous adults, came in the form of Safari Joe’s Animal Show, which brought a host of critters like a yellow boa constrictor named Banana, baby alligator, spiders, and beetles. Some of the judges even got in on the fun by having their photo taken with the baby gator.
Special thanks to GCPHC President, Tammie Cramer, for sharing some photos!
