NQHL Gambler’s Choice Trail Derby and Huntfield Derby Coming to Big A and Stars and Stripes!

The 2014 Stars and Stripes and Big A is quickly approaching July 3-13 in Conyers, Georgia. This year, the Georgia Quarter Horse Association and National Quarter Horse League are teaming up to offer, not one, but two NQHL approved events during the show!
Thanks to an improved show schedule, lucrative NQHL special events, NSBA futurities, shortened halter schedule, and fun social events, the 2014 Big A and Stars and Stripes is on track to become one of the best in the event’s history! The judge’s pool for the show consists of Jennifer Thompson, Jonathan Meilleur, Tom Robertson, Jennifer Leckey, Tracy Willis, Jon Barry, John Boxell, Murray Griggs, Karen Graham, Judd Paul, Cindy Rucker, Debra Jones-Wright, David Connors, Sarah Good, and Holly Hover.

The first NQHL event at the show will be the Gambler’s Choice Trail Derby that will take place Sunday, July 6th and Thursday, July 10th. The Open division will pay out $2,500 to the top eight competitors and prizes will be awarded through 12th place. The Non-Pro division will pay out $1,500 to the top eight and prizes will be awarded through 12th place.
Taking place on Sunday during the Open Derby will be a Trail Derby Ice Cream Social. On Thursday, competitors will enjoy a Trail Derby Candy Buffet during the Non Pro Derby.
Also, there will be an AQHF Calcutta to benefit the AQHA Foundation Scholarship Fund. Bidding will open just prior to the Open Derby. The pot will be split 50/50 between the bidder and AQHF.

Secondly, the Huntfield Open and Non Pro Derby will take place on July 9th in the Olympic Coliseum under the lights. Accompanying entertainment and refreshments will be provided during the Exhibitor’s Party On the Hill. The Open Derby will have a $2,500 payout with a $100 entry fee. The Non-Pro Derby will have a $1,000 payout with a $50 entry fee and will be shown concurrently with the Open Derby.
The Huntfield Non Pro Low Derby will also be held on July 9th in the Olympic Coliseum. There will be a $1,000 payout and a $50 entry fee.
