The 2020 APHA World Championship Show in Fort Worth, Texas—which runs from September 18–October 4 at Will Rogers Memorial Center—features a full schedule of showing and fun activities for all members, but especially for Youth! These include a judging contest, coloring contest, stick horse competition and scavenger hunt.
The APHA horseIQ World Championship Judging Contest takes place on September 23 in the Watt Arena. The contest has three ages divisions: Youth 13 & Under, Youth 14–18 and Collegiate. Contestants have the opportunity to competitively judge various halter and performance classes in attempt to earn team or individual awards. Entries are $40 per contestant and contestants must have an APHA/AjPHA membership. For more information or to enter, go to apha.com/worldshow/judgingcontest/
During the World Show, Youth can also participate in a Coloring Contest September 18– October 2 at noon. Contest divisions are 7 & Under, 8–13 and 14–18; coloring sheets will be located in the Richard Bass Building by the Youth study room. Entries must be posted on the bulletin board by the Youth study room (including the artist’s information filled out on the back). If you can’t attend the 2020 APHA World Show, join in on the fun by participating in the coloring contest on APHA’s Facebook page. Winners for each division will be posted on APHA’s Facebook and will receive a $25 PH Barn Door gift card. Check out our Facebook event page for more details.
The Youth Stick Horse class takes center stage in the John Justin Arena on September 19. All Youth age 7 and under are welcome to join with their very own Paint stick horse. No entry fees are required, and all participants receive a trophy belt buckle sponsored by Double C Acres, Bob and Joyce Cassata & JR and Melissa Cook. Enter online here!
The Paint the World Scavenger Hunt takes place September 19 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Contestants compete in teams of two and need a mobile device (to access the event form and take pictures) and something to write with. The hunt challenges your knowledge on Paint Horses, Will Rogers Memorial Center and more. Follow the fun before the main event and access the entry form via our Facebook event page.
These events are just a few highlights of what we have planned during the World Show. Make sure to keep up with the APHA Facebook page and website (apha.com/worldshow) for more information.
