You get what you give
Over 25 years ago, as we were in the process of launching The Equine Chronicle, we sent a letter to serious breeders and exhibitors of Quarter Horses, Paints and Appaloosas introducing us to the industry and telling them about our new magazine dedicated to their sport. Part of that letter included our mission statement. Included in that mission was our desire to give as much back to the sport as possible as this new magazine gained traction. We said:
“As we grow you can expect to see The Equine Chronicle supporting exhibitors parties at various major shows. This is something we are accustomed to, having thrown exhibitors parties for over 3,000 show dog exhibitors at Madison Square Garden annually. We will also be supporting added money futurities, youth scholarships, and other worthwhile activities. This will be our way of celebrating the sport we all love while supporting those within it.”
We at The Equine Chronicle are proud of the publication we have delivered over the last quarter-century, and we are equally proud of our history of giving. In fact, The Equine Chronicle has given nearly 4 million dollars to support shows, futurities, scholarships, and other horse-related charities since its launch. It’s obvious that we could have used these funds to line our pockets, but we believe you get what you give.
