From an Orphan to a Congress Champion

Made Me Famous kicks off Congress with a Championship in Level 3 Junior Trail – a class of 54 – with Sara Simons!

When Sara Simons saw Made Me Famous lying down in a field as a baby, and she saw a big white spot on him, she thought, “Oh, that’s going to be a big, fun horse!” So she asked Darren Putnam about him, and if he would be willing to sell him.

Darren explained the colt was an orphan Machine Made and out of One Southern Glow, but when he stood up, Sara says, he was so much bigger than all the other babies, a trait she seeks for herself and her customers.

So they bought “Andy”, aka “Anderson Cooper,” for Jared Reece, and he had him as a two year old.  “Then at the end of that year, Megan Ryden Beal and her mom, Cathy, bought him, and he had a pretty good little 3 year old year. He won quite a bit at the NSBA World Show, and then last year he started doing the trail for me. He did well last year, and he’s done well again this year. I’m really proud of him!”

Sara adds, “He has been a great horse – he is really super talented, and he has a lot of presence out there.”

Proud owners Megan Ryden Beal and Cathy Ryden have really watched Andy blossom.  “He has come a long way, and Sara has worked incredibly hard on this horse. He’s very special and has matured a lot to come a long way in the Trail.”

They explain he’s a big old boy, and he’s really fun to show and be around.  “He wasn’t always the easiest, and the big ones take a little longer to mature (he’s five this year), so to see one like that with all her hard work succeed, it is just incredibly special,” says Cathy.

Megan adds, “He’s incredibly smart, which is not always a great thing, and he’s always thinking and I think tries to help! I literally pinch myself all the time that I got to call him mine. He’s very special. He’s my heart horse, and I just worship the ground on which he walks.”

Trail is Megan’s favorite class, so she’s excited to start trail with Andy as well.  “Sara has done an amazing job, so when the reins are handed over, hopefully we will make her proud!”
