Much has been written about the long list of champions to come out of Simons Show Horses in Pilot Point, Texas. Mostly notably, the legendary stallion Zippos Sensation, who was APHA’s Leading Breeder’s Trust sire for 15 consecutive years, tops the list. That single horse changed the entire landscape of the Paint Horse breed; but as incredible as he was, the horses are only part of the story.

It all stems from a family–the Simons family–Lynn and Andrea Simons with their daughters, Jana and Sara. Each of them has impacted the horse industry, immeasurably and in their own way, from training and judging to breeding and competition.

Now, as Jana returns to the Amateur All-Around pen for the first time in nearly 13 years, we talk about what it was like growing up in the Simons family, her career outside of horses, where she fits in to her family legacy, and her plans for the future.
