Chances are, if you dig back into your archives, some of your favorite horse show photos will have one thing in common, a trademark fish logo belonging to the great Don Trout. The presence of that tiny fish meant several things. First, it showed Don’s unique, trademark sense of humor. Second, you knew you were in the very best hands of one of the most experienced photographers in the business.
We were deeply saddened earlier this week when we received the news that Don’s longtime battle with cancer was quickly coming to an end as he was transferred into the loving care of Hospice. Sadly, we were given the news that Don has since passed away, yesterday, Wednesday, July 26th.
Since his passing, Facebook has been flooded with exhibitors sharing their favorite photos taken by Don: from the 2017 Sun N Surf Circuit all the way back to the 1983 Tom Powers Futurity and everywhere in between.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Trout family during this time and to everyone whose life was impacted by this respected and cherished member of the horse industry. A Go Fund Me account has since been set up to help support the Trout family. $18,275 of the $50,000 goal has been raised by 166 people in just one day.
