FORT WORTH, Texas – The TCU equestrian program had six student-athletes named to the 2014 Academic All-Big 12 Equestrian Team Tuesday afternoon.
Earning first-team accolades were junior’s Alexi Child and Katelyn Gray, while sophomore duo Taylor Alexander and Erin Gillette rounded out the Horned Frogs’ first-team recognition. For a second-straight year, Child was one of only three student-athletes in the conference to post a 4.00 grade point average.
Picking up second-team accolades were Caitlin Ader (Sr.) and Kaitlin Perry (Jr.).
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
TCU will next be in action Friday at the Big 12 Equestrian Championship in Waco. The Horned Frogs, who are seeded No. 3, will take on No. 2 Baylor at 10:00 a.m.
