EWD Halter On 2023 AQHA Show Convention Agenda

There are currently 20 classes in AQHA’s Equestrians with Disabilities division, better known as the EWD Division:

  • Showmanship – Walk Only; Showmanship- Walk, Jog/Trot; Showmanship;
  • Supported Walk-Trot Classes are Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat; Hunter Under Saddle; Trail; Western Horsemanship; Western Pleasure
  • Independent Walk, Jog/Trot Classes are Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat; Hunter Under Saddle; Trail; Western Horsemanship; Western Pleasure; Para-Reining
  • Independent Walk, Jog/Trot, Lope/Canter Classes are Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat; Hunter Under Saddle; Trail; Western Horsemanship; Western Pleasure; Para-Reining

Equestrians with Disabilities – AQHA

 

Coming up this weekend at the 2023 AQHA Convention, EWD Halter is on the Show Agenda for consideration as well.  One of the proponents of addition is Karen Strom-Torrice, a Halter exhibitor with deep roots in the industry; she also happens to be the mom of Shea, who has down syndrome.

Shea hit the show pen in Halter for the first time in Fall 2022 at the Breeders Halter Futurity. See our story about their experience last fall:
