The countdown continues for the Southern Ohio Quarter Horse Association 2015 Madness Show! Only a few days remain before trailers start pulling in to Wilmington, Ohio for the main event April 2-5.

Beginning next week, the recently revamped Roberts Arena will play host to AQHA competitors looking to rack up the points at one of the most talked about events for 2015. What’s all the buzz about?

Great Lineup of Judges- 10 Judges/6 Days

Judges for the SOQHA Madness will be Chad Evans, Leonard Berryhill, Kelly McDowall, Jeff Mellott, Keith Miller, and Valerie Kearns. After the Madness Show, stick around for the SOQHA Youth Show, April 11-12. Judges will be Terry Cross, Robin Frid, Robin Griggs, and Jeff Greaves. Youth competitors CAN’T MISS this show because scholarships will be awarded to the Champion and Reserve Champion winners in Novice Youth, 13 and Under, 14-18, and Small Fry divisions!

Money, Money, Money!

NSBA-approved classes at the Madness will include: $1,000 Non Pro Horsemanship, $1,000 Non Pro Showmanship, $500 Green Hunter Under Saddle and Southern Belle, $500 All Age Non Pro Hunter Under Saddle and Southern Belle, $1,500 3-Year-Old Open and $500 Ltd. Open Western Pleasure and Southern Belle 3-Year-Old Open, $1,000 3-Year-Old Non Pro Western Pleasure and Southern Belle, $500 3-Year-Old Open Hunter Under Saddle, and $1,000 Non Pro Equitation.

Equine Chronicle

Equine Chronicle 3-Year-Old and Over Novice Horse Western Pleasure buckle.

The main event of the show will be the Equine Chronicle 3-Year-Old and Over Novice Horse Western Pleasure class, which will award a $15,000 check and a beautiful awards buckle to the winner! In addition, there will be Champion and Reserve Champion Maiden and Limited Rider awards. The slot class will take place on Saturday following Trail and Western Riding classes. If you haven’t entered yet, you still have the opportunity to enter at the show by Friday, April 3rd at noon for a cost of $2,500 per horse.

This year, the projected payback will go even deeper. Also, the highest placing maiden horse will receive $5,000, and the second highest placing maiden horse will receive $2,500. The Limited Champion will be presented with $1,000 and Reserve will be paid $500. To sweeten the pot even further, a bonus of $3,000 will be paid out if the winner is riding in a Harris saddle!

Vendors that will be displaying their wares during the show include Rod’s Western Palace, Show Diva, Kathy Williams Tails, Harris Leather and Silverworks, Allies Uptown, Good Ride, Just Peachy, Berry Fit, Rock Grinders, The Cutting Room, Eric Hardesty Photography, The Sweet Shop, Cowboy Leather, Kurtz Boots, Tribute Nutrition, and dac.

Convenience

For your farrier needs, Steve Tarrant will be on the show grounds Thursday to Sunday. For your veterinary needs, Hassinger Equine will be on the grounds for the duration of the show. Golf carts will be available at the show for $25.00 a day. To reserve call 614-205-8056.

Fun Social Events

Madness competitors will be treated to daily breakfasts, exhibitor dinners, a special Easter breakfast and more surprises to be announced soon… If you’re looking for a pre-show makeover, The Cutting Room will be offering manicures, pedicures, massages, and make up airbrushing on the show grounds!

Amazing Awards

Show management has rounded up some amazing awards including: stall front bags from Shannon Wacker with Style Stable; a Billy Royal show halter from Schneider’s, TVs, Beats wireless headphones, a Bluetooth Portable Speaker, a RCA Pro 10 Edition Tablet with keyboard folio, Art 101 Kit, Stanley Mechanics Tool Set, circuit jackets, and cowhide chairs for Champion and Reserve High Point. In addition, sweatshirts, short sleeve and long sleeve t-shirts, tattoos, pens, chapstick, cups, and towels will be presented to lucky competitors.

REMINDERS:

1 – NO arrivals before Tuesday at 10 am.
2 – RV/Camping – These spots have been sold out for some time. Do not pull on the grounds expecting a spot. Cowan Lake State Park is 1.5 miles from the facility. Their phone number is 866-644-6727.
3 – Everyone is required to present papers, AQHA & NSBA cards, ROM verification, etc at the show office to enter. Remember, separate entry checks and stalls/shavings checks are required. If you enter Southern Belle classes, a separate payment is required.
