Equine Chronicle Bridleless Horsemanship is Coming to Corporate Challenge!

The MAQHA Corporate Challenge is fast approaching. There are only three weeks left until the show takes place July 10-14 in St. Paul, MN.! Judges for the show will be Kelly McDowall, Garth Gooding, Karen Graham, Mike Hawkins, Jonathan Meilleur, and TW Grose.

Celebrating more than 20 years in existence, the Corporate Challenge is a competitor favorite due to its big class sizes (a Top 15 AQHA Show), accommodating schedule, and fun special events.

The Equine Chronicle is excited to sponsor a very special event at the show this year- The Equine Chronicle Bridleless Horsemanship Challenge! For this event, patterns will be provided to exhibitors 15 minutes prior to the start of the class. This time period will also serve as a warm up. Once the class begins, horses and riders will be required to stay in the arena in the holding pen area. There will be a working order.

Because this is a bridleless challenge, bridles will not be permitted; however, a rein may be used on the horse’s neck. There will be five additional bonus points assessed if no rein is used. The typical AQHA Horsemanship scoring system will apply.

One handler per horse and rider combo will be permitted in the warm up pen. Competitors may use bridles in the warm up pen, but the handler must remove the bridle prior to leaving the warm up pen.

There is a $75 entry fee, and competitors must enter by noon on the Friday the class will take place. Three judges will score the class.

This event will be open to trainers, amateurs, and youth. There is a $2,000 pot with placings to extend from first through sixth. Each exhibitor and horse combo will be auctioned off in a calcutta prior to the class with 50% of the proceeds to be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Good luck to everyone! We can’t wait to see how many people participate in this special event this year. Who knows what might be next… a Halterless Showmanship class, a Bridleless Trail class, a Bridleless Over Fences class?…
