EC Transformation Tuesday – Shannon Moeller and Razzle

This is Shannon Moeller and Razzle! Shannon and her family raised Razzle, who was born right before Shannon turned nine years old.

Razzle is now 23 and competes in all-around events at open horse shows as well as All Breed divisions at several breed shows in Iowa. Her favorite class is Trail.

“We compete in all the pattern classes at every show we go to, as well as walk-trot, Hunter Under Saddle, and sometimes Ranch Pleasure,” says Shannon.  “When my husband and I bought our acreage in 2016, I moved our mules in right away and started riding just about every afternoon. I went to a couple local saddle club shows for fun, and in 2018, I started showing regularly and at bigger shows. Razzle has won several weekend and year-end high points over the past few years, and really seems to enjoy this phase of life!”

Shannon says she didn’t grow up showing – most of what she’s learned about showing has been acquired in the last five years.

“Before this “2nd career,” Razzle was just ridden occasionally for trail riding and the occasional fun show. We still do those things as well, but our “riding after work several days a week” sessions are really geared towards staying fit for competitive weekend horse shows, and that’s the environment she seems to enjoy the most.”

Shannon adds that Razzle is extremely popular wherever she goes for good reason. “Not only is she a great competitor at heart, but she seriously does love the show atmosphere. Nothing bothers her, she loves the attention, and I swear- she makes herself look extra cute when anyone gives her attention,” she says. “She’s so used to the attention now that she expects it everywhere we go; whenever we stand at a start cone, she looks around at the crowd, checking to see her fans all around cheering us on!”
