Female business owners and powerhouse women seem to be what’s trending in 2022, and Madison Nirenstein is no exception. Boasting 32,000 followers on her Instagram page, founding and running her own business, and becoming a household name in the show pen are no small feats individually, but she’s doing it all. 2021 was a record year for her, both professionally and as an equestrian.
Small Beginnings
How did she get here? She’s quick to say it started in a roundabout way that involved tears at a Tiburon County Horse Camp when she was six years old. Madison notes she was a self-driven, eager child when it came to knowing what she wanted–and following through–even at a young age. However, an exception she clearly remembers, was the day her mom, Michelle, dropped her off at Flying M Ranch Horse Camp.
“I cried and didn’t want to stay,” Madison says. Her grandparents found out about the camp and thought it would be a good experience for Madison. Looking back, she’s glad her mom showed some tough love and didn’t let her leave despite her fear. That week at horse camp morphed into an unbelievable journey that has amounted to many AQHA, NSBA, and Congress Championships.
Madison continued to ride at horse camp for several years, riding, leasing, and showing lesson horses in schooling shows in Tiburon County, where horses aren’t even allowed anymore. Madison’s parents, Michelle and John, weren’t avid equestrians and definitely weren’t aware of what would transpire in the future by getting their daughter hooked on horses at such a young age. However, Madison decided she wanted to continue to ride, eventually choosing riding over gymnastics. It took nearly ten years to convince her parents to purchase her first horse.
