The 50th anniversary of the Dixie National Quarter Horse Show just wrapped up February 16-22 in Jackson, MS. Thanks to Emily Peak Photography, we have some fun around the ring photos to share from the #Dixie50.
Judging the 50th anniversary were Allen Mitchels, Kim Myers, Clark Parker, Tracy Willis, Andrea Simons, Gretchen Mathes, Bruce Walquist, Tim Finkenbinder, Robert Meneely, Bobby Hunt, Chris Benedict, Arthur Jackson, Ray Smith, Tom McBeath, Clark Scoggin, Dan Moreland, and Bobby Harrison.
The event began February 10th-11th with a special two-day AQHA Equestrians With Disabilities show that offered a full set of independent and supported rider classes with a few fun ones thrown in for good measure like the Costume Class and Showmanship On Wheels!
Other highlights during the main portion of the Quarter Horse show included a new double pointed special event Roping, $10,000 added Freestyle Reining, $100,000 in cash and prizes like Harris saddles for Youth, Amateur, and Select All-Around winners, belt buckles for reserve, and Dixie National jackets for AQHA class winners.
Much to the delight of equine-obbsessed shoppers, Moonlight Madness returned to the Equine Expo on Friday evening after the Freestyle Reining. From 9-11 pm, shoppers enjoyed shopping sprees, special sales, and door prizes that were generously donated by vendors. The next day, the Southern Classic Horse Sale tempted buyers with auctioneers Harold Brown and Wayne Boyd at the helm offering a selection of show horses, children’s ponies, and ranch horses.
Congratulations to a few of the big winners at the show!
