Starting at the 2014 AQHA World Championship Show Sale, buyers have an added appeal for purchasing a horse at the sale. A new AQHA World Show Sale bonus program will attract more buyers and also give breeders and trainers an incentive to consign their horse to the 2014 AQHA World Show Sale.

Developed by the AQHA World Championship Show Sale Committee, the new bonus program offers buyers the option to pay $1,000, which will make the World Show Sale-purchased horse eligible to show at one or all of the AQHA World Shows (Zoetis Versatility Ranch Horse, Adequan Select, Built Ford Tough AQHYA and AQHA world championship shows) the year following the sale without having to qualify for the respective show. The $1,000 must be paid in addition to standard World Show entry fees.

“The goal of the AQHA World Show Sale Committee is to encourage potential buyers to use this venue to purchase their next World Show prospect and to see the financial benefit of doing so,” said Doug Hayes, AQHA director of business development. Although Hayes is the in-house staff member who handles the sale, he answers to the AQHA World Show Sale Committee, which comprises AQHA members who are industry leaders in their disciplines.

“The addition of the World Show Sale Bonus Program is the next step in helping buyers realize those dreams of owning a world show prospect,” Hayes added. “The bonus program is certain to bring more buyers to the sale, so do not miss your opportunity to consign your horse.”

The consignment deadline is September 3. And the consignment application is now available for anyone interested in selling their horse at the 2014 AQHA World Show Sale. Download the consignment application.

Additional bonus program details include:

  • The $1,000 also makes the horse eligible for bonus money in one class at one of the world shows.
  • Except where otherwise specified, that $1,000 fee is non-refundable.
  • Beginning with the 2014 World Show Sale, the $1,000 fee must be paid by January 2 for horses sold in the previous year’s sale.
  • Owners of horses paid into the bonus program must declare the class and world show(s) said horses will compete in by the entry deadline for the declared show.
  • If the owner chooses to show in more than one class and/or at more than one world show with said horse, an additional $1,000 must be paid by the entry deadline for the respective show for each class the horse did not qualify for with points. The $1,000 must be paid in addition to standard world show entry fees.
  • The horse’s eligibility will transfer to any subsequent owners, except it cannot be transferred back to the original seller at the AQHA World Show Sale or to any of their immediate family. Relationship rules as per the AQHA Official Handbook of Rules and Regulations apply.
  • The horse’s eligibility cannot be transferred to another horse.
  • Any horse for which the World Show Sale Bonus fee has been paid that finishes in the top 10 of the world show declared (except for the Ford Youth World and the 2-year-old western pleasure class at the AQHA Open World) will get its $1,000 bonus fee back. Any money not paid back to owners will be held over as bonus money the following year.
  • The 2-year-old western pleasure class is the exception to the above. Sale bonus program fees collected on horses that are intended to be shown in the 2-year-old western pleasure class at the following year’s AQHA Open World Show will be held separately. The total amount of money collected will be distributed in a 50-30-20 percent breakdown to the three highest top-10-placing AQHA World Show Sale horses
