According to local station, Sauk Valley News, an attorney for former comptroller of Dixon, IL, Rita Crundwell filed a motion this week to contest the turnover of nearly 700 horse trophies, artwork, show clothing, and personal assets to the government. Crundwell’s attorney is insisting the personal objects wouldn’t benefit the city if applied to the restitution order of $54 million.

In 2012, Crundwell plead guilty to wire fraud and was convicted for siphoning taxpayer dollars to secret bank accounts to fund her highly successful horse operation. She is currently serving the remainder of her almost 20 year sentence in a federal prison in Minnesota and will be released when she is 77 years old.
