They are the truck drivers, trailer unloaders, food deliverers, stall pickers, horse holders, and always your biggest fan. Now, it’s time for dads everywhere to get in on the fun!
The third annual Dad’s Walk Trot class will take place this year at The SOQHA Madness. Always a crowd favorite, the event will be run in a calcutta style on Saturday, May 15th. The event will take place just prior to The Equine Chronicle 3 and Over Maiden Horse slot class.
The Dad’s Walk Trot class isn’t just a great opportunity for some mirth and merriment; it’s also a fundraiser for the SOQHA youth club. Rod’s Western Palace is a dedicated sponsor of the class and will provide a belt buckle to the winner and Rod’s Specialist straw hats for second and third place. In addition, 45 North Winery will gift a bottle of bubbly to the high bidders in the accompanying calcutta, so bid early and often.
In 2020, SOQHA youth were able to use fundraising monies to purchase a mobile AED unit for member, Cassie Priest. Cassie has a heart condition that resulted in a trip to the IUC in early 2020. With access to this mobile unit, she’s able to continue to ride and compete safely.
The three judge class is open to all L1 eligible dads and grandpas. Past winners have included Jeff Drennen in 2019 and Dennis Martin in 2020. Who will the big winner be in 2021? You will just have to stay tuned to see…
