Cool jobs often blend passion with innovation, offering unique opportunities that push the boundaries of traditional career paths. These roles not only reflect advancements in technology and interests, but they also highlight how evolving fields and creative thinking are transforming what it means to have a fulfilling and dynamic job.

The ladies featured in this third installment of “Cool Jobs” are excelling as they find their way through some exciting professional careers. They do this while also engaging in horse show pursuits at a very high level. The work they do goes beyond earning a paycheck–instead, they’re forging paths in exciting and adventurous careers.

Data Privacy for the National Football League

Gillian Chant has grown up showing horses, primarily within AQHA. She started showing in the All-around divisions as a Small Fry, and progressed through the age divisions while cementing her lifelong love of horses and showing them. As an Amateur rider, Gillian has focused her showing energy on the class that brings her the most joy. “Trail is my favorite class. It is something I truly love to ride,” she says.

Chant is a Senior Manager of Data Privacy for the NFL. For the past year, she has worked to ensure the protection of NFL fan data for all 32 football teams and the NFL as a whole. This entails the protection of each person’s personal digital information and ensuring data compliance within the associated data privacy laws for the United States and Europe.

“I’m a huge sports fan,” Gillian says. She loves that her job allows her to be a part of a sport she loves–day-in and day-out. Despite her job headquartering her in New York City, Gillian is a big Kansas City Chiefs fan. “My office area is decked out in Chiefs gear. The NFL encourages staff members to decorate our workspaces,” she says.

“This isn’t something I went to college for. There are not many college prep programs available for this career,” she explains. This is a field with tremendous job security, however. With more than 160 data privacy laws worldwide, Gillian works tirelessly to comply with U.S. and International data management requirements.
