Congratulations 2015 AQHA Farnam Select All-Around Winner Susie Johns and Heza Radical Zip!

During the past week, the Farnam Select All-Around Amateur contenders competed in a variety of events throughout the American Quarter Horse Association’s 2015 Adequan Select World Championship Show. This year, 50 contenders competed for the Farnam Select All-Around Amateur award.

The Farnam Select All-Around Amateur is Susan Johns of Paradise Valley, Arizona. Johns showed her American Quarter Horse Heza Radical Zip. The 2005 bay gelding, by Radical Rodder and out of Sonnys Last Zip by Zippo Jack Bar, was bred by Olivia Hoecker of Reddick, Florida. Johns and Heza Radical Zip earned 45 points in three classes, winning the world championship title in trail, reserve world championship title in western riding and placing fifth in horsemanship.

Johns and Heza Radical Zip received a prize package that included $10,000, plus $1,000 of Farnam product, an original Lisa Perry bronze, an embroidered WeatherBeeta horse blanket and a rose bouquet.

The 2014 Farnam Select Reserve All-Around Amateur is Linda Coakley of Clearlake, Washington. Coakley showed her American Quarter Horse Patsys Royal Secret. The 2000 brown gelding, by Make My Grey and out of Patsys Chic by Primero El Randado, was bred by Patricia Sowell of Sacramento, California. Coakley and Patsys Royal Secret earned 34 points in three classes, winning the reserve world champion title in showmanship and placing fifth in hunt seat equitation and sixth in horsemanship.

Coakley and Patsys Royal Secret received a prize package of $2,500, plus $500 in Farnam product and a silver bowl.

The third-place Farnam Select All-Around Amateur is Jim Bound of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Bound showed the American Quarter Horse Bound To Cash Chex owned by Jax Bound of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. The 2007 palomino mare, by Nu Chex To Cash and out of SF Kings Firstlady by King Of Four Mac, was bred by Hilldale Farm of Brashear, Texas. Bound and Bound To Cash Chex earned 31.5 points in four classes. They earned the world champion title in heeling, reserve world champion title in heading, 10th place in ranch riding and 11th place in breakaway roping.

The fourth-place Farnam Select All-Around Amateur is Cynthia Tripoli of Seguin, Texas. Tripoli showed her homebred American Quarter Horse Imaka Better Beau. The 2005 brown gelding is by Go Grey Beu (TB) and out of Perfect Scenario by Cooscenario. Tripoli and Imaka Better Beau earned 27 points, earning the world champion title in working hunter, placing third in equitation over fences and sixth in hunter hack.

The fifth-place Farnam Select All-Around Amateur is Annette Fowler of Azle, Texas. Fowler showed her American Quarter Horse Malibu Moose. The 2007 bay gelding, by A Good Machine and out of Shezawesham (TB) by Weshaam, was bred by Rick and Dolly Chayer of Sperry, Oklahoma. Fowler and Malibu Moose earned 25.5 points, placing third in working hunter and hunter hack, and fourth in equitation over fences.

All-around amateur third through fifth place received a prize package that included $1,000, plus $250 in Farnam product.

The 2015 Gene Graves Super-Select Special Recognition Award was presented to the Super-Select exhibitor, age 70 and over, earning the greatest number of points in competition at this year’s show. This year, 69 exhibitors qualified to compete for the award.

The recipient of the Gene Graves Super-Select Award is A. D. Pete Woods of Blanchard, Oklahoma. Woods showed his American Quarter Horse SLR This Kats Kual. The 2010 sorrel stallion, by High Brow Cat and out of Dual Kual by Dual Pep, was bred by Stump Lake Ranch & Cattle Co. of Calgary, Alberta. Woods and SLR This Kats Kual earned a total of 17 points, winning the reserve world championship title in cutting.
