We would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the Bauer and Gooding families following the passing of the APHA mare, Reddy For Josie. Josie was a three-time APHA Reserve World Champion and a producer of 18 APHA World and Reserve World Champions.
Thanks to exceptional mare care by Shelley Donovan, Kim Rotenberry, Hedy Levin, and farrier Craig Harrison, Josie was able to enjoy a peaceful retirement at BSB Quarter Horses in Michigan during the past five years.
Back in 2012, The Equine Chronicle published an article entitled, What Horse Would You Breed?. We asked AQHA and APHA exhibitors, trainers, and judges if they could choose any horse to breed, deceased or alive, who would they choose? Here’s what AQHA/APHA amateur exhibitor Michelle Bauer had to say.
“My favorite horse that I’ve owned was a 1992 APHA mare named Reddy For Josie. I was Reserve World Champion in the Hunter Under Saddle with her twice (in 1997 at the APHA Youth World and 1999 as an Amateur). She was also the first horse I achieved Number One Amateur in the Nation with in 1999. I still own her today, and she has turned out to be a great producer. She has had three Hunter Under Saddle World Champions by the talented stallion, All Time Fancy; one being my current 4-year-old mount, All That And More.”
