Western fashion is having a moment. Boots, fringe, and cowboy hats are in, baby. Call it the Yellowstone effect. Call it a western renaissance. The world is calling it cool. Classic cowboy styles that long lived most comfortably in western arenas are now gracing high fashion runways, red carpets, and some of the biggest stages in entertainment.
Country Crosses Over
The cowboy culture effect has spawned a surge in crossover country hits from major artists like Post Malone, Shaboozey, Kid Rock, and the queen herself, Beyoncé. Early in 2024, Beyoncé released her eighth studio album, Cowboy Carter, which launched a new era in both her sound and style.
An entertainment icon, Beyoncé is synonymous with edgy, trend-shaping looks that match the tone and tenor of her music. Beyoncé’s commitment to honoring authentic western fashion was apparent from the get-go. Cowboy Carter’s cover art featured the singer on a white horse in a western show saddle donning a well-shaped silver hat and dressed in head-to-toe red, white, and blue.
On Christmas Day, over 27 million people tuned in to watch the NFL’s Christmas Gameday halftime show, better known as the Beyoncé Bowl, as the Houston Texans faced the Baltimore Ravens in the singer’s hometown of Houston. Authenticity was again on display throughout the performance, with Beyoncé entering the arena on a white horse in a stunningly embellished white Western ensemble.
