APHA.com

Get ready for the 2020 APHA World Championship Show, September 21-October 4 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Qualifying for the APHA World Show is simple: just participate in two APHA-approved events during the qualifying period, June 1, 2019–May 31, 2020. If a horse has not participated in at least two events for qualification, a $1,000 fee per show (up to $2,000) can be paid to make them eligible. Only participation in the events—never points earned—factors into qualification.

View all qualifying rules or check your horse’s qualification progress at apha.com/oawcs/qualifiers.

Reining and Cow Horse Qualification

The 2020 APHA World Show takes place immediately before the renowned NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity, and our show features Open and Non-Pro challenge and sweepstakes classes that pay out more than $40,000 in added money to reining events and more than $3,000 in reined cow horse events; the challenge/sweepstakes classes do not require horses to qualify to compete, but qualification will allow a horse to participate in any event at the World Show, including world championship classes in any discipline.

Cutting Events

All APHA World Show cutting classes—Open, Amateur, Youth and Challenge events—take place during the APHA Youth World Championship Show, July 3-5 in Fort Worth, Texas. Qualifying is not required for 2020 World Show cutting events. Ranch Cutting will continue to be held in September and qualifying is required. (Horses that compete in cutting at the summer World Show are not eligible to enter Ranch Cutting at the fall World Show and vice versa.) Cutters will have additional opportunities to compete for cash in the ACHA Cowtown Cutting, which takes place in conjunction with the Youth World Show and offers both all-breed opportunities and Paint-exclusive prizes.

New Show Management Team

New for 2020, Kathy Avolt and An Equine Production will manage both APHA World Championship Shows along with the APHA National Championship Shows this year. An Equine Production is one of the country’s leading horse show management groups, managing approximately 125,000 AQHA entries annually along with a growing APHA exhibitor base.
