A number of champions have been crowned at the 2021 Sudden Impulse NSBA Futurity in a wide variety of disciplines.
Madison Fussell rode Ramblin Mann to win 14-18 Horsemanship. Reserve was Sydney Sargent with MWS Flashed N Chock. Third was Kaitlyn Smith with Amazin Dream.
This is 19-year-old Madison’s final year in the youth division. She’s leasing Ramblin Mann from the Blanchard family for the 2021 season. This pair relies on the guidance of Brad Ost and Troy Lehn for their training and preparation.
“This was our first show together,” Madison says. “It went very well. He’s super fun, and he’s a little quirky, but he gets through the pattern very well and doesn’t get nervous.”
Madison says her favorite class with this gelding is Western Riding. Although it’s a new class for her, it’s certainly not for Ramblin Mann. “It’s super fun and, obviously, he’s very seasoned at it with Brad.”
Looking towards the remainder of her youth career, Madison has her sights set on one final trip to the AQHA Youth World and then continuing at Oklahoma State University on the Equestrian team.
Nick Mayabb rode Best But Better to win Senior Trail. Reserve was Cecilia Skivington with The Hot Intern. Third was Brad Ost with Ramblin Mann.
Nick has had this gelding in the barn for several years now after he was purchased as a three-year-old. “This is his first year as a Senior Trail horse, and last year was his first year in Green Trail, so he’s has excelled fast. He’s very good at the slow stuff. He’s very patient and never gets in a hurry. There were a lot of slow difficult parts today, which he’s very good at.”
Andy Cochran rode Start Ur Engines to win 3-Year-Old Western Pleasure. Reserve was Angie Cannizzaro with LunaMoon. Third was Shane Dowdy with My Dad Is The Best. The Intermediate winner of the class was Blair Townsend with Made To Ride. Reserve was Jason English with Your Made For Me. Third was Cody Parrish with A Cowboy For You.
Deanna Green won Non Pro Intermediate Western Pleasure Maturity with Ima Golden Machine. Reserve was Kylee Wiseman with RR Magical Moonlite. Third was Joetta Bell with The Beat Gos On.
Deanna describes “Mac And Cheese” as “one of the nicest horses” she’s ever had the opportunity to ride. Although she’s only ridden the mare a few times so far, the 4-year-old is proving to be very talented in the Western Pleasure pen.
“She looks very easy,” Deanna says. “Her topline is beautiful. Nothing about what she does is forced. She’s really pretty behind. She jogs really soft and has a really pretty expression. She’s a Palomino, which is kind of a family thing, so that’s cool.”
The 3-Year-Old Non Pro Limited Western Pleasure was won by Mallory Wachob with Eyell Be The Rock. Reserve was Kathryne Zachrich with Only A Dream Machine. Third was Matthew Labrie with County Line Liquor.
Mallory purchased “Robin” from her trainers, Judd and Jennifer Paul, in November of last year. “Basically, I was at the farm this summer riding my other horse, and they had me hop on her. We hit it off. She always shows amazingly. Honestly, it’s me that’s a work in progress. She gets better every single time I show her. Our first show was in Tampa of this year.”
The winner of the Maturity $2,500 Limited One Hunter Under Saddle was Jamie English with Just One Last Chance. Reserve was Keith Miller with Al Be Your Prince. Third was Judy Zeitler with Naturally On Top. The 3-Year-Old $1,000 Novice Horse Hunter Under Saddle was won by Joy Wheeler with Nothin To It. Reserve was Tali Terlizzi with It’s Game On. Third was Beth Case with A Blazing Legacy.
