“Another trainer got kicked in the face and had to have reconstructive surgery. Carole raised money for her medical expenses. She has that kind of constant awareness about the needs of families here. She is always so giving.”

“The animals we support may look different, have different gaits or come in a variety of sizes, but our issues as an entire horse industry are not so varied,” said Robin Alden, AQHA manager of youth development and AQHYA.

“Everyone remembers the theme tune from Black Beauty, and now, for the first time in 15 years, it is back on British television. We’re sure that fans who watched Black Beauty the first time around will be delighted to see the show again and that it will also gain a firm following among a younger audience not yet familiar with this wonderful cast of characters.”

“True life is often stranger and more heartwarming than fiction,” says Kurt Kadatz, director of Corporate Communications at the Stampede. “The Stampede is where more than 7,500 horses and other livestock come together for ten days every year, and where tens of thousands of horse owners meet up. We enjoy a lot of quirky animal stories here on site.”

The Buffalo Soldier: An American Horseman will be on exhibit February 18 to April 30 at the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum in Amarillo. The exhibits tells the story of the African American soldiers of the 9th and 10th cavalry and their equine partners marching into the unsettled American West, helping build and protect the country we know and love today.

On February 21, 2014 at 7 p.m. the Coach House in Wellington will transform into an elegant cocktail party adorned with white. Guests will wear their best boots and benefit Horses Healing Hearts as they kick off the year with the White, White West Party. Guests will enjoy food, fun, entertainment and exciting silent and live auctions, as well as a raffle with plenty of enticing prizes. Last year, the event raised over $50,000 for Horses Healing Hearts, and attendance nearly doubled from the previous year. The tickets are selling fast, so now is the time to act.

Participants will take part in exercises conducted from the ground that could include observing herd behavior, leading horses, grooming and picking their feet, and moving unrestrained horses through an obstacle course or into an enclosure without touching them.

Volunteering at Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue in Millbrook, New York, saved Serena Thorne. “When I first went to Lucky Orphans, I was just coming out of Crisis intervention from a suicide attempt. When I lost my stepdad a few years back, it broke me emotionally and then I found out that my second knee surgery had failed.”
