The horse descriptions that say, “Can get hot,” or “Be careful with your spurs,” are usually the horses that girls don’t want. Instead of having the attitude of, “I hope I don’t get that horse,” it’s important to teach yourself to think, “What am I going to do to get the most out of that horse if I get it?” Simply changing your mindset will drastically alter how your ride will go.

One of the many fun events is the Ice Cream Social on Wednesday after the show sponsored by the PHBA Amateur organization. You also can wake up with caffeine daily from the Coffee Mobile and beat the heat with all-you-can-eat snow cones while waiting to see if you won the raffle for a Bob’s saddle or Kathy bridle among other fabulous donated items. The ever-popular Amateur Team Tournament runs throughout the entire show. Exhibitors from all over the country are randomly selected to form teams, which, in turn, form lasting bonds.
