Splints are unsightly and some people have them removed. Dr. Gary Baxter, Hospital Director at University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, says splints are seen most often in younger horses when they start training. Stress may disrupt the interosseous ligament before it stabilizes.

The testicles continually produce sperm cells and they are stored in the epididymis until ejaculated. If the sperm cells have been in storage awhile, they deteriorate and are not as viable as younger cells.
