Show management had already expanded the Fall Championship to include a second circuit in response to the pent-up demand of exhibitors who sat home for months in COVID lockdowns. Once the Congress and its coveted futurities were cancelled, AzQHA CEO Doug Huls worked creatively to adjust the schedule to add a full slate of NSBA Futurities with generous added money. Sponsors enthusiastically jumped in, ensuring the shows will be a highlight of the year.

A Star On The Rise – Kayla Budine

Nineteen-year-old Kayla Budine is a star on the rise in the show world. She is an accomplished athlete and a third-generation horsewoman, following in her mother’s and grandmother’s footsteps. Growing up in Oakdale, California, Kayla tagged along to shows with her mom, Marcie, while learning to ride on her own pony. She says, “My mom has been showing with her mom since I was little, and I guess you can say she carried over the tradition to me. My mom and I have always bonded while we showed. She’s the main reason why I started showing, and I’m so glad she shared the love of riding with me.” Marcie McClenon set the bar high for the women in her family when she won at her first World Championship show, the 2015 AQHA Select World Show with her four-year-old stallion, What Matters Most. Kayla followed up with her own success in youth competition.

AZ Fall Championship to Offer 4 Youth Divisions!

The 12-14 and the 15-18 youth divisions will run throughout the horse show with their classes being held on the same days as the amateur and select divisions for those classes. For example: The Youth, Amateur, and Select Horsemanship classes will all run on the days listing Horsemanship. L1 Youth, L1 Amateur, and L1 Select classes for Western Pleasure and Horsemanship will follow the Equitation classes.
