Since its inception in 2007, AQHA’s Performance Halter classes have steadily gained in popularity and are now some of the largest classes at shows across the United States. The classes originate from the concept of form-to-function, and, as a division, Performance Halter was intentionally designed to reward performance horses that are both conformationally correct and structurally sound. In other words, the class is meant to reward athletic horses that exemplify the breed standard.

The event took place at the C Bar C Arena in Cloverdale, Indiana and hosted five sets of AQHA points and two sets of NSBA points. Judges for the show were Sandy Jirkovsky, Shawn Hays, Clay MacLeod, Michael Ochetto, Robert Dehn, Daren Wright, and Merle Arbo.

Continue reading …Following in the theme of celebrating youth exhibitors, there were plenty of fun events on the schedule, like the Youth Boot Race on Friday, Youth Ride A Buck on Saturday, and Youth Sack Race on Sunday. The highlight of the show was the Youth Scholarship Challenge, which was open to all youth exhibitors for no cost. The format allowed for one horse and one rider combination to declare three performance classes and one halter class to count for points.
