If you’d like a chance to take home a piece of this pie, remember, foals must be nominated every year. The $300 nomination fee for yearlings and 2-year-olds is due by June 1st. Nominations can still be paid after this date, but the fee increases. Weanling foals may be nominated within 60 days of foaling for $200. Then, the amount increases to $300 by June 1st.

“We’re right at about 300 stalls,” says Show Manager Jay Thesing. “Class sizes are staying good. We had 29 in the Novice Amateur Level 1 Showmanship, 20 in the Amateur Showmanship, and 26 in Horsemanship.”

The countdown continues to the 2014 Stars & Stripes and Big A horse show, which will take place July 3-13 in Conyers, GA. This year, exhibitors can look forward to an improved schedule, special events like the NQHL Huntfield Derby, Open Trail Derby, and Non-Pro Trail Derby, a shortened halter schedule, and much more. $125,000 in cash and prizes was awarded in 2013. The first of six AQHA shows kick off today with a triple judged event that shows Kelly McDowall, Beckey Schooler, and Michelle Tidwell on the roster. Another triple judged event will take place Sunday and Monday with Andrea Simons, Jessica Gilliam, and Rusty Green judging.

Developed by the AQHA World Championship Show Sale Committee, the new bonus program offers buyers the option to pay $1,000, which will make the World Show Sale-purchased horse eligible to show at one or all of the AQHA World Shows (Zoetis Versatility Ranch Horse, Adequan Select, Built Ford Tough AQHYA and AQHA world championship shows) the year following the sale without having to qualify for the respective show.
